When glucose is present, the gel becomes reversibly more insulin permeable so that output is matched to blood glucose. Renfrew Group International was commissioned to design the delivery hardware. |

The device, when embedded in the peritoneal cavity, communicates with a double valved-port mounted below the skin allowing for insulin replenishment by means of dedicated push-pull driven syringes.
