Dr Joan Taylor, Professor of Pharmaceutics at DeMontfort University who leads the In-Smart research group, pioneered a solid state system for closed loop delivery that relies on a glucose-sensitive gel gateway to an insulin reservoir. When glucose is present, the gel becomes reversibly more insulin permeable so that output is matched to blood glucose. Renfrew Group International was commissioned to design the delivery hardware. |

Complies with AfPP Guidelines Swabsafe is designed to eliminate the risk posed to operating theatre personnel by the unhygienic and unnecessary handling of contaminated swabs. It also assists in accurate swab counting, reducing the risk of retained swabs in patients. Each Swabsafe container is divided into five sections. The scrub-practioner directly discards each dirty swab into an individual section. Once all five sections are used, the swab-tie is added to the Swabsafe container, then the lid is secured. |
